Notifications

Notifications keep you informed about assignments, workflow changes, approvals, comments, watched risks, and background jobs.

Manage notifications

  1. Select the notification bell or open Notifications.
  2. Open an item to follow its link back to the relevant risk or action.
  3. Mark individual items or all items as read.
  4. Archive items you no longer need in the active list.
  5. Open Archived to unarchive or permanently remove an eligible notification.

Set your preferences

Open Notification Preferences and choose which available events you want to receive. Options can include:

  • risk state changes;
  • assignments and review activity;
  • new comments;
  • approval requests;
  • watched-risk updates;
  • SLA digest notifications;
  • email, in-application, or both;
  • weekday-only SLA delivery.

Save the page and return after the next expected event to confirm delivery. Administrators control whether email, SLA digests, and related background services are operational.

Use the notification bell

The bell provides a quick unread count and a compact list of recent items.

  1. Select the bell in the top bar.
  2. Review the event type, risk reference, and time.
  3. Select an item to open its destination.
  4. Use View all when you need filtering or archive actions.

A notification link does not bypass access checks. If your access changed after the notification was created, RiskVault can show Access Denied instead of the old record.

Choose useful preferences

Different responsibilities benefit from different settings:

  • Risk owners usually need assignment, state-change, review, and comment events.
  • Reviewers usually need assignments, requests, approvals, and mentions.
  • Watchers can enable watched-risk updates without receiving every general event.
  • Operational managers can enable SLA digests while keeping routine field-change email quieter.

Avoid turning off every channel for approval or assignment events unless another agreed process replaces them.

Watched-risk notifications

Watching a risk and enabling watched-risk delivery are related but separate. The watch determines which risks you follow; preferences determine how eligible updates reach you. See Collaboration and watching.

SLA digests

When configured, digests summarize upcoming or breached SLA work. Weekday-only delivery suppresses weekend messages; it does not pause the SLA clock. Open each linked queue to work from the current data rather than relying on an older email count.

Background-job notifications

Large report exports and other queued work can post progress, completion, or failure notifications. A completed item can include a download link. Download it before the configured retention period expires.

Troubleshooting notifications

The bell count does not change
Refresh the page and confirm the event occurred. Real-time delivery can be interrupted even when the notification was stored successfully.
Email is missing but an in-app item exists
Check your preferences and junk folder, then ask an administrator to check email-service health.
A mention did not notify me
Confirm the author selected you from autocomplete and you can view the risk.
A notification opens Access Denied
Your record access or role may have changed. Ask an administrator only if you still have a business reason to access it.
